Pressure Washing, Power Washing, and Soft Washing

Which technique is right for your project?
Pressure Washing, Power Washing or Soft Washing?

Do you have a project that needs to be cleaned, but the bucket of soap and scrub brush just isn’t cutting it? If you have a dirty or stained surface that, after cleaning multiple times, feels like there is no hope in sight and needs to be refurbished or even replaced, the last-ditch effort usually involves pressure washing for most people.

(A short explanation of all three methods we use)

Pressure Washing is the most common method used by homeowners. It’s also the most common term used when cleaning a surface using cold, pressurized water.

Power Washing is used mainly used by Exterior Cleaning Professionals and industries using heavy equipment. This term is most used when cleaning a surface using hot, pressurized water.

Soft Washing is a newer cleaning method. It is used by both homeowners and professionals. This term is used when chemicals are applied at a low pressure (not exceeding 1000 psi). It is rinsed off at low pressure as well.

If you are not familiar with Pressure Washing, we recommend you do some research. Start by deciding on the surface you are cleaning. Decide what nozzle you are going to use. A helpful suggestion is to never clean using a “0” tip up close. This is the most damaging tip. It is the one used by homeowners and inexperienced pressure washing professionals. It will create gouges and tiger stripes. Here is a link to a pressure washing forum that has a lot of good information on it on pressure and soft washing. PTState.com

Power washing should never be done by someone who is not familiar with Pressure Washing. You can have the same damaging effects as a pressure washer. With this method you are introducing 250-degree water. That being said, Power washing is extremely effective in removing most stains. It is most effective geting off materials/debris.

Anyone can use Soft Washing. Just take extra precaution when washing a house using this method. Most products purchased from big retailers often kill vegetation around the home.
